Mother's Day?

Bill and I celebrated Mother's Day on Saturday. Lily had to work and we will be on vacation next week so Saturday evening was what worked. But really does it matter what day you choose to recognize all that mom does and treat her to dinner etc? should that be more often than once a year? Anyway, we had a nice dinner, and with family coming over a good reason to clean up the house.

On Sunday we spent the beautiful day outside. I weeded and transplanted plants and Bill did lawn work and hung a new light. Winnie was a pain all day, she really is going through a moody stage.

This week we hope to finally sign papers on our deck (a year after starting the process to find someone). We leave Friday for Vegas. I can't wait to see Alana. especially to hear her play. I am also really excited to see Cirque du Soleil. It should be a great weekend and a much needed vacation for my overworked husband.

I will have to get some pictures up afterwards as I feel like I haven't posted pics in a while.

reasons i am glad to live now

and not in john adams' time:
1. small pox and small pox "innoculations"
2. tar and feathering, seriously people?
3. cannon balls and amputation attemps
4. yellow feaver
5. cancer treatments

Bill and i finished watching the 7 part HBO series last night. I thought it was great but i am glad I live now.Modern medicine may not have everything right, but they have improved many practices and they now have stellar pain medication. In regards to number five, if you are more interested visit here.

In other news, Winnie got her stiches out yesterday. I think the entire vet's office is in love with her, but honestly i don't know how a heart can withstand her happy puppy love.

Spring time has hit Chicago which means it was 80 last week and 40 this week. It also means farm fresh asparagus and more yard work.

Weekend update

Friday - Dinner with Brian and BJ fun but expensive... sushi is just not cheap.
Saturday - Picked up the pup from the hospital (she was there overnight for her spay) she was as happy and bouncy as ever.... bill and I are wondering if she actually had surgery We both got new running shoes (after 2 years even though they look new they are getting pretty worn on the inside). and then we went and saw a movie in theater for the first time since October. and yes it was the Jackie Chan Jet Li movie.
Sunday - was stunning. it was a beautiful spring day which meant Sunday chores and errands and some work outside. step one of many on my veggie garden is complete. the big bush has been removed. As the price of everything is going up, I am hoping that my hobby will produce a decent amount of food this summer.

so now what should i plant. I think it's too late to seed inside... but maybe not?

She stayed!!!!

If you know anything about my struggles with training Winnie you will know that for the past 3 months when i would say "stay" it was Winnie's cue to jump up and down like a crazy puppy. But last night she repeatedly stayed and kept her eyes on me when i issued the command. I was so proud of her i nearly burst. this means we might be ready for intermediate training.

Out side of being way to obsessed with my pup we have had some nice weekends since I returned. This weekend we saw Bill's folks for lunch and went out for a wonderful meal with Brian and Christie. we also did our taxes did filing for the last two months and had a nice meal with our neighbors.

Bill and I hope to soon be able to post that we have hired someone to build our deck. this has been a long time in the making and we hope to have a deck by mid June.

That's all from me.
