inspection time.

well this weekend we finalized the offer. we have our inspection this week and if everything goes as planned we will be home owners in a month.

so how 'bout them oscars. it was a bit boring but i was happy for most of the big winners and I again really want to see pan's labyrinth (wanted to see it about a year ago when i had read/heard about it). i thought ellens bits were good, though i wish we could have had less filler more ellen and less time (4 hours is just too long)

so who was best dressed worst dress... i leave that up to connie to decide.... who deserved the best pic i leave that up to some one who has seen them all.

anyway it monday morning and nearing lunch time so its time for me to stop babbling and get to my lunch.

bids and pigs and burgers...

oh my!

so we went and looked at a house we had seen the previous weekend on this past saturday. we put a bid on the house on monday and now we wait. so i apologize if my writing isn't inspired.

this year is the year of the pig (chinese new year celebration was on sunday). but more importantly it is the year of the golden pig for Jed -- time for some babies megan ;-)

and finaly happy fat tuesday! tomorrow we fast and get ashed but today we, or at least a bunch of the people i work with eat cheese bugahhs. The tradition has been to go to billy goats and who ever wanted in would give their order to one of the people in the office. but this year she decided she wasn't going to carry back every ones burgers... but being a place that doesn't like change we all went out separately and got burgers... i from the mcD downstairs some from Cellars (in the basement of the CBot) some from billy goats and some from lukes.

have a great week!

snow snow snow

It's been over a week since my last post. by now most of you know that Lily has bought a house and the closing date is the end of this month. This really spurred us into action. This past weekend Bill and I went to look at some houses. Things went ok... we have come to the realization that as first time home buyers we won't be getting our dream home, but there was at least on house that we might want to see again.

One thing i don't like about looking for a home right now is the weather.... it was too cold for Bill and I to "try" walking to the station from the houses we were considering.... there was too much snow for us to see anything but a general shape of the back yard. anyway now it is snowing more which begs the question do we wait until spring to have more options and a better picture or do we buy a home now if we like it.... when looking at places you get that grass is always greener syndrome.

Anyway, the weather here has gotten warmer(20* woo hoo) but uglier... today we woke up to unplowed streets and 20 mph wind.... and that wind feels even stronger around the sears tower.

Things in my life are revolving around two main things.... buying a home, and trying to plan a wonderful vacation that we will need once the home purchase is complete. work, home, and life in general is taking a second wheel.

(in my head right now)

so it's not my year for football teams..... you know as soon as the opening drive happened i turned to bill and said this better not end like the osu game... so maybe it is my fault.....

but thanks to frank and lj for putting on suck a nice party. lj your guac was delish (and not too spicey) and so was the 6 layer dip.
_______

so it is cold outside.... i mean really cold.... -30 with wind chill cold. I don't like cold when it is 50 outside.... when i wake up to -9 i am not pleased.
_______

buying a home is stressful.... not even the looking but just the thinking about it....
_______

the USD needs to get stronger.... 2 things rencently have angered me about our exchange rate 1. the british government is charging Bill and me an extra 50 pounds pp round trip to fly through their country. that is 200 dollars that i won't be able to shop with!!! 2. when you see a price of a hotel in euros and you go "oh thats not to bad" and then you add the exchange rate and tax you all of a sudden start thinking about for that kind of money i could stay at (pick your upper crust resort) in the us..... or better yet that could pay for a week of tickets for two people to disney world.
_______

our server overheated this weekend meaning that everything was in disarray when i came in this morning. apparently even with the cold weather the air conditioner in our server area must be kept on... try explaining that to the building staff who thought, very sensibly, that an air conditioner shouldn't be running in the middle of winter.

wow -- my fingers are purple

i think that that give you a taste of the past day or so :) have a good week!!
