RJ Says...

So RJ is wondering where the Youngs have wondered off to, well we were enjoying the weekend by spring cleaning, running errands, and celebrating Bill's birthday with the family.

Anyway, Bill and I have been quite busy, he with work and I with studying. I have made myself a makeshift desk in the bedroom where I have better lighting than the loft and more quiet than downstairs. They say that you shouldn't have things like desks, TV's, etc in a bedroom because it hinders your sleep, but if you are only sleeping 6 hours anyway, does it make a difference?

I am ready to stop studying. Notice that I am not ready for my test... Just ready to end the pain. People keep telling me I'll do fine etc, but if they knew the hours of studying that I am doing, and how behind on my little schedule I made I am they would probably tell me to quit while I am ahead.

Anyway that is all that is new in the life of Sarah. Going to try making a kalua cake for Mr. Bill for his birthday this week. I hope it comes out of the bunt pan ok.

There were green alligators...

... and long-necked geese
Some humpty backed camels and some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born
The loveliest of all was the unicorn

Please don't throw the toilet paper into the toilet...

...that was the sign in the bathroom at the Cafe Iberco. ...I am still puzzeled with what I should have done with the toilet paper.

Bill and I went out to celebrate St. Patties day, but the only place that we could find that didn't have a 1.5 hour wait was a tapas restaurant. and while we ate we got to watch a Celtic music special in French at a Spanish restaurant. I guess the EU is really working out.

Anyway, hope you all are enjoy your weekend.

Immigration

So, outside my window right now thousands of people protesting the immigration act a screaming and chanting "USA" I really don't mind rallies, but I don't like when I can't hear myself think. I don't mind the fact that people so badly want a better life with better opportunities that they come here illegally, I do mind, however that there are thousands of people screaming outside and they are here for at least the next hour and a half.

I wonder how many illegal Irish immigrants there currently are in the US, because this currently looks like the Irish/Mexican heritage day parade.

I don't know how I feel about the bill, so I am not going to weigh in on that, but I do know that my family and almost everyone I know's family has immigrated here. (I don't know too many Native Americans).

Grr now the rallying has started....

Life...

I watched Walk to Line last night (FINALLY!) and it was very good. Work has kicked my butt the last two days, and I am ready fo a weekend.

Not much else going on with me... I guess I am a very boring person.

Frozen

I think my window has severe deficiencies, because I feel a distinct draft on my legs as I sit here. I also think the office management has already turned down the heat in preparation for the weekend.

anyway I am trying to get my work done but I think everyone is out to get me today.

We're getting lunch from cellars and I am getting mac-n-cheese with corn bread and french fries... am trying to figure out the % of my meat-less meals in lent that contain mac in cheese -- I had it Wednesday for dinner and today for lunch.... mmmmm cheese sauce. today's won't be as good as Wednesday's because I make mine from scratch with a home made cheese sauce with sharp cheddar cheese. As you might note from all this talk of food, I'm hungry. You would think with eating dinner at 9pm last night I would be hungry yet, but today is Friday, and since I know our food gets here at 1115, I get hungry for lunch around 1015...

This weekend should prove fun, with movies and study groups and sleeping! Maybe some more of scrubs season 1... hil-ar-i-ous!

Ash and Dash

That is what Bill calls the distribution of ashes at St. Peter's in the Loop. We went to the full mass (which is a full 30 min along) and then went downstairs for the ashes. As we left the building there was a line wrapped around the side of the church. Now, I know Chicago has many Catholics, but I swear these people come out of the wood works... and then walking back to my office I pass a guy with ashes on his forehead and he looks at my forehead and gives me this odd smile. As if to say, "yeah, we know what's up"

Then you get back to work and people stare... and I work at a pretty Catholic work place... we get Good Friday off, during lent they order from places that have fish and pasta on Fridays, and the one's who aren't Catholic are pretty involved in their protestant religions. So why the stare... you all know what this is about... why should I feel embarrassed that I am a practicing Catholic?

well, my lunch break is nearing an end, so I will stop my rant and move on with my hungry meatless afternoon.
