I had a great time with the family this weekend. I got to see both mom and dad plus a lot of my mom's family. Bobby came up to hang out too, which was nice. I have also loaded these pictures - here is to the second album:

no oat meal day

dad will probably shake his head, but yesterday we finished our previous bulk bag of oat meal and before we start on the new one Bill and I took a break today and had danishes.

I have a whole bunch of books on hold at the library about gardens, seed starting and preserving and canning. I also have the omnivores dilemma on hold. Unfortunately, for me my library closes at 5pm all weekend, so I hope I can go on Saturday before we leave to visit Bill's friends.

which leads me to the plans for the weekend. Nothing on the slate tonight, but tomorrow we meet up with Bill's high school buddies and their SOs (some are married some are dating). Unfortunately, we have to drive about an hour and a half each way up to the north burbs to see them.

Sunday, We will go see Bill's family to celebrate his dad's birthday (Saturday. Then we go to a Chicago corgi get together. A whole bunch of corgis - so much fun!

At some point, I need to start packing and what not for Texas.

warm but cold

so it is supposed to get over 60 here today. (yea!) so i wore a short sleeve blouse today. 60 is not warm enough apparently because I'm freezing.

market is down again... its getting kinda old. like can't it find something better to do. oh well.

last night i tried my hand at making risotto. it's not hard and very tasty.

a week from today I'll be in Texas visiting my good friend Mary and her daughter. I can't wait!

tired/ updates

I am tired of winter, but thank goodness that spring is trying its best to emerge from all the cold snow... it might hit 60 here on Thursday and daylight savings starts Sunday.

I am tired of the markets.... I stopped looking at my own investments months ago, but honestly this has got to stop.

I am tired physically. I don't know why but my eyes are burning and my body feels like it was hit by a sack full of pennies. I hope I am not getting sick.

----

I realize that i didn't post all weekend or yesterday so here's my update.

Friday we went out to the gage and it was as good as always. I had the prefixed meal for restaurant week (creamy white bean pureed soup, bass with turnip and kale, and a deconstructed root beer float.) But Sarah, you say, you can't have root beer... you gave up pop for lent. ah ha! i say, it was root beer flavored gelato and a spongy cake with a root beer flavored foam. no actual soda pop!
After that we got home and rented some movies for the weekend. It's pretty cool because family video rents blu ray dvds these days, which means we watched Wanted in blu ray. it was just ok, but it was filmed here in Chicago which is really cool.

Saturday we got up worked out and then got corned beef on rye at the ny-style deli near home. I love that place! Then we were off to the art museum where we spent 2 hours wandering around the awesome photography exhibit and the old European rooms. Then we took a detour to Al's Italian Beef... the original. Bill has been trying to get to this place for a month and a half after seeing it on some tv show. The beef was actually really good... too bad I got the hot dog.
Saturday evening we spent in again and HBO was showing the movie 10000BC which we caught most of and then we watched the other DVD we rented, Forgetting Sarah Marshal.

Sunday we did errands after church (including finding a new grocery store for Asian veggies) and then spent the afternoon / evening inside with a nice fire. Now my house smells like a fire pit BBQ, but it was nice.
