I have been toying around with changing my blog format for quite some time. The format I had was from a long time ago, when the only customizations you could really do were colors and fonts. I am still trying to find the right background etc. for the page.
I hope you like it and if you have suggestions lemme know.
To quote a famous donkey, "Thanks for noticing me." As my title suggests, I am not creative so don't expect cool phrases or neat titles from me. Most of my posts are about my little life on this rock we call Earth.

my love of cartoons
I am sure you all know by know that I am sort of a Disney freak, loving the movies, cartoons and especially the theme parks. I admit to this obsession freely, but sometimes I wonder how poorly it might reflect on me. Maybe I just need to have a kid so I will "have to" watch the movies etc.
That being said phineas and ferb have a movie premiering at 8 tonight. I will be watching. I love Agent P, and every time I see the garbage disposal at work (insinkerator) I chuckle to myself.
So judge me if you will, but that is my plan for the evening.

scans
So last fall I started a project to get a bunch of the old family photos together for scanning. I had seen this deal online that was basically 50% off (buy a gift certificate of x and get 2x in value). I started the project in september, sent the photos out finally in october got the digital proofs online in december and then did nothing with them until this week. I finally went through all of the albums deleting pictures i didn't want and approved the order. today I spent the better half of the evening down loading un zipping and compiling the pictures into one folder. Eventually I would like to go through and sort them. I am pretty sure I have some duplicates (scanned the negative and the photo) and a bunch were just mish-moshed together but here are a few of the old ones i liked.
I just tried to up load a few and the computer gods are not being nice. maybe tomorrow.

Formal
or as mom called it - MBA Prom. The theme was Casablanca, so I got my hair done up in a 40's-ish style. Bill got a new tux (thanks Nordstrom's Rack!) and learned how to tie a bow tie (thanks You Tube!). Anyway, we had a great time and we will definitely get tickets for next year.

warm weather
maybe the groundhog was right, maybe spring is coming sooner that I thought. I know that winter's icy grasp will strangle these happy thoughts out of me (and probably wring me dry), but for right now the snow has melted the sun is shining and it seems more like march 18th instead of february 18th.
Life is moving fast so I will update on the important things:
Winnie is still cute
Bill is still busy
And me, well this week:
I applied for two jobs (an improvement over the previous two weeks - one job)
I was elected co - chair of the public speaking group (yay)
I have listened to the tangled soundtrack like 15 times - i can't wait for this to come out on video - i am 5 years old sometimes
I have made a "grand plan" document outlining all the rest of the courses I have to take and the bid points I have to take them (we have to bid on the classes we want for school)
And in the rest of time I have gone to class, gone to group meetings and tried to stay afloat.

Hi Cindy
So I went back to my old place of work this week (what isn't that what you do when you have 3 weeks off - you rub it in the faces of those working?) Cindy told me she reads this blog all the time, so I say, "hi Cindy!!"
I have now gotten two of my four grades back and am currently looking at straight b+. This isn't the best, but I would be happy with it.
Tonight we are going to go see tron. We'll see how it is.
Have a great weekend y'all.

hope y'all had a nice Halloween

winnie says happy halloween, and please don't boil me in a pot

We had a fun filled weekend (after studying most of Saturday, that is). Since we moved into our house the number of trick or treaters has gone down in the last few years... so we had a surplus of candy. We had a lovely day though (the weather was never this nice when I was a kid). And our nice neighbors invited us over for ghoul-lash and pecan pie. This allowed us to not cook and enjoy some time with other people before hitting the books.
I have my fist midterm today and am being a bit manic depressive about it. as in ... i looked at the practice and all of this makes sense... therefore I will aces this ... and five min later ... crap if it is easy for me it is easy for everyone and i bet the questions will be all these hard things that we didn't practice on our homework and practice test.
I will let you all know how it goes.

No Fruit pies,
but a different type of Apple.
Today Bill took the day off of work and we had a wonderful day together. The highlight for me being the laptop I am now blogging upon. School starts next week and I am excited to have a laptop all of my own.

make a little bird house in you soul
ok so Bill is some times baffled by how I jump from one subject to another. I will now try to describe my way of free association + massive song index in my brain:
I wanted to post about cleaning my windows last night. I have never really washed the outside of windows before, I know my parents did it growing up, and I do it with the few windows that are always uncovered, but my living and dining rooms' shades are always drawn. (ooh free association -Amelia Bedelia!) Anyway, I was trying to thing of a title for the post and in rapid succession I thought of windows, window to your soul, bird house in your soul and now I will have that They Might Be Giant's song in my head all day long.
but the windows are clean and I had them open all night last night. I love this weather!!
In other news, Bill is 5% done with his degree as of 8pm last night. Tomorrow he will be 10% done.

No pants for a year?
http://nopantschallenge.blogspot.com/
I hope she doesn't live in a cold cold place like Chicago, or plan on skiing or doing other sports. But yet I am intrigued by the idea. Just like I would love to spent a few weeks wearing clothes from the mad men set...
Anyway to recap: it is Friday(the 13th!) and I obviously have too much time on my hands

warm cookie radar
So there is a bakery across the street from me that has a warm cookie radar. As in they tell you when they have just pulled a sheet of cookies from the oven. I just had a warm snikerdoodle and I think I was able to attain nirvana for a few moments.
The problem is the huge yummy cookies cost way too much, so they are a treat to be had only once is a great while.
Oh well... at least for now I am on cloud nine.

Yay Hawks!
So for the second time since I moved to Chicago in 99 I will get to watch a ticker tape parade from my office window. I am so happy and excited for our team and all the fans. It was an exciting game and I hope everyone that went out partying last night got home safe and sound. (though I don't think any of my readers are blackhawk fans)
In case you didn't see Bill's reply to my post, the bat came back negative for rabies. we still are super leery of noises at night and opening closet doors etc. Bill has taped our folding fireplace gate against the actual opening and pushed stuff in front of it. We will have to have a company come out and deal with the cap and maybe installing glass doors .
This week has gone by quickly and Bill will start orientation for school tomorrow. We have another busy weekend and our summer is shaping up to be very active.

my test is tomorrow
Hi all 7 people who read my blog. I bet your life has been super boring without me.
My test is tomorrow and I am starting to feel ok about it.
In the last week and a half so much of my life has be turned upside down I don't know where to begin. Obviously most of that is because I was accepted into the MBA program at UChicago.
So lets see a week and a half ago Bill was in Miami for a bachelor party. I was feeling mopey about my test and being waitlisted so I decided the most prudent thing to do was enroll my dog Winnie in agility classes. It would be something that started right after my test and something to do this summer to keep my mind off things. I also watched the Lost finale which I liked and the more I think about it the more I like it.
So Bill gets back, Winnie is enrolled in school and I start heading into the home stretch. I knew I would be taking study days off so my last day of work for a while would be Thursday. My little cousin was in town and I would have to get him from his class trip on Thursday to the airport for his cousin's wedding in Colorado Friday morning. And then Wednesday midday I got a call from UChicago.
It never ceases to amaze me that just when you are ready to move on and have come to terms with things that is when your world gets turned upside down (in a good way). I know it is cliche, but it has happened to me more than once in different aspects of my life. It's God's way of stirring the pot.
So since then I haven't really celebrated, in fact I don't know if the ramifications have fully hit me. Bill and I are going from being DINKs to TSOINKs (two students one income no kids). I won't be working starting September. Even in collage, I worked 20 hours a week plus my classes (and 40+ in the summer).
I know things will have to change for both of us, but I also know I am super excited. And as tomorrow is edging its way closer, I think I am letting myself feel more happy and excited about what is to come. This test still means a lot, and I will continue to pursue my charter if I pass level two. (I think it would be crazy to have sunk 18+months into getting this only to stop one level short). If I don't pass I don't know what I will do, but I am going into tomorrow with my fighting face. I have done all the readings, all the classes, all 2,100+ practice questions and I really do know this body of knowledge.
See you guys tomorrow!
ps I won't find out my score until mid to late August
